It has been awhile, hasn’t it? I know. I haven’t really done a proper grocery shop in weeks. We have been doing small trips with no real plan. I promised myself I would get back into the swing of things this week.
Here’s what I bought for this week:

A lot of Superstore yellow, eh?
Total: $54.85
I have received a lot of questions about what we eat for breakfast and lunches, so I am going to start including those as well.
Breakfasts I always have yogurt, berries and granola. H always has something different. He will vary from toast with peanut butter, cereal or eggs.
Lunches for H this week include yogurt, fruit, multiple sandwiches or leftovers At Superstore I am able to buy 12 buns (H prefers buns) for $2.00 – which is an awesome deal! And we buy meat from the deli.
For myself, I love peanut butter and banana sandwiches; soup, yogurt or whatever else needs to be eaten.
Tuesday:
- Lunch: H works a labour job, so his lunches are fairly large. But this is what he brought with him today. (Leftover tuna casserole, 2 sandwiches, 2 yogurts and an apple.)

I am going to have a sandwich, probably banana and peanut butter, because I LOVE them!
Wednesday:
- Lunch: Leftovers, 1 sandwich
- Dinner: Chicken, rice and veggies
Thursday:
- Dinner: Spaghetti with veggies
Friday:
- Dinner: Nachos, cheese, tomatoes, onions and ground beef
Saturday:
- Dinner: Date night!
Sunday:
- Lunch: Whatever needs to be eaten
Our sofa is probably 10 years old, or so. One of the legs broke a few years ago and thankfully at that time I was able to repair it. Earlier this week the same leg broke again! And unfortunately, it was unable to be repaired.

We don’t have money to buy a new one right now, so we needed to get creative.

H brought home some 2 X 4’s that were laying around at his work and he built us new legs!
Our sofa has a skirt – so you’ll never be able to see the legs, which is perfect!
Cost: $16.00, for screws.
Now we have our sofa back, and I hope it’s good for another few years.

So happy that it’s Saturday and that it’s absolutely beautiful outside! Today we are spending time doing some house projects, buying new tires for our car and going for ice cream (Dairy queen 2-for-1 coupon)!
My favourite thing about today? Hanging my clothes to dry outside!

Hope you’re having a wonderful day!

Congratulations, Mrs.T!!!! I have e-mailed you to gather your contact info!
Thanks to everyone who entered.
Remember last month when I posted my wants/needs? Well I did it. I bit the bullet and bought a paper shredder. And I am so happy I did! I bought it from Staples on sale for $30 (regularly $57). I got a small one, since I didn’t want it to take up a lot of room in our one bedroom apartment.
I have been going through all our paper work and shredding like a mad woman. So far I have 2 bags full of shredded paper. And it’s starting to look a lot more organized now. Being organized is important, especially when it comes to bills.

Look what I came across while shredding. I have no idea where it came from, but what a message!

These are all my old pay stubs from my old job. I worked there for 5 years and I think this is 2 years worth, or so. I am not looking forward to shredding those!

And thankfully I have this little guy to keep me company! I heart him.

Well, we are about two months away from getting married! I thought I would share how our budget is doing so far.

As you can see we are slightly over in clothing and make up. But for everything we have purchased, we are okay with it.
We also ordered H’s wedding band last week, which came to $85.00 – for a titanium band (he is allergic to everything, so this was perfect for him).
We are ordering my wedding band this weekend and should cost around $260 or so (mine is white gold and matches my engagement ring)(I will post pictured once we receive them).
Initially we budgeted in $500 for our rings, but thankfully we are coming in under!
Everything should be done and paid for by the end of this month! I am getting really excited!!
I am torn. I want to keep posting pictures on my blog, of our weekends, of different photography shoots I do or any other semi-personal pictures.
But I am really paranoid about friends or family finding my blog!
I feel I need to make a decision. Either come out and stop being anonymous. Or stop posting anything to do with my personal life.
Which sucks, because I want to share those things with you.
Ever since Krystal over at GMBMFB had troubles with this on her blog, I have really been thinking about this.
For now, I am going through some older posts and deleting personal pictures; until I figure out what which way I’m going to go.
It’s been said that it takes 21 days to form a new habit or break an existing ‘bad’ habit. So I thought I would give myself this challenge to form some new, healthy habits. I was thinking of starting this next month – but why wait?
I’m going to start now.
The idea is to write down 1 or 2 new habits that you want to form or break and do them every day for the next 21 days. And by the end of the challenge it should become something you do without thinking about and part of your day-to-day.
They don’t need to be ground breaking. They can be ANYTHING.
My 2 goals for the next 21 days
- Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.
- Read a minimum of 30 minutes each day.
If you want to participate in this with me, feel free to leave a comment below and let me know what you’re working on!
I will let you know how this goes, in 21 days!
I wrote about my friend last week and trying to decide what I should do about the difficult situation. I appreciate all the advice and encouragement, it really helps. Really.
I had thought about calling child services before, but several things have stopped me. Because of my friend’s nationality if the children were to be taken away, they would go to family first and her family is no better than she is when it comes to raising children. The lifestyle that my friend is living is the stereotypical lifestyle for her nationality, which is just a pathetic excuse, in my opinion. The reason the children would go to family first would be for cultural reasons.
Which I can somewhat understand. But I still don’t agree with it.
I have thought about talking to the school. But as sad as this sounds, these are probably just two of several children who are living this way.
But that doesn’t justify any of it or make it right.
I talked to my friend. I told her that what she is doing is wrong. I told her that her children should come first, before anyone and anything. I explained that most 5 year old children don’t even understand the concept of death, and most especially should not know what suicide means!
I was angry when I voiced everything to her. I apologized for being angry and I tried to explain that I loved her and her children and I hate seeing them hurting.
I also explained that I couldn’t just sit around and watch as the children suffer. All she had to say in return was that it was hard being a single parent. She said that it’s hard because when she wants to go out for even just a couple hours, there is no one around to watch them (I should mention that the kids go to their fathers house every single weekend. That’s 2 free days she has to herself).
I understand it’s hard, but her only complaint is that she doesn’t get to go out? Well, my dear, things could be much worse.
The last thing I said to her was, “I don’t know if I can continue this friendship” and all she said to me was, “I understand. Take care.”
Really.
I understand, take care???
22 years of a friendship and that’s all you say to me!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
It hurt at first, because I couldn’t believe someone I considered a good friend would respond like that. But should it really surprise me? Not really.
I still worry about those kids. And I still don’t know what I’m going to do about it. I know I need to do something, before something happens to them.
