Talk about paranoia!!

I am torn. I want to keep posting pictures on my blog, of our weekends, of different photography shoots I do or any other semi-personal pictures.

But I am really paranoid about friends or family finding my blog!

I feel I need to make a decision. Either come out and stop being anonymous. Or stop posting anything to do with my personal life.

Which sucks, because I want to share those things with you.

Ever since Krystal over at GMBMFB had troubles with this on her blog, I have really been thinking about this.

For now, I am going through some older posts and deleting personal pictures; until I figure out what which way I’m going to go.

I know what you mean. I'm struggling with how anonymous I want to be also. I've never posted personal pictures, so I don't have that to worry about that part. But it's really tough.

Well, you can still post scenic shots. but perhaps not "people shots"

I say go public! You are proud of what you write about and even though I have gone public, not many people I know read my blog at all. Mostly my mom to see what I am up to. its not like you write anything horribly incriminating, selfish or mean. So who cares if one or two people from your life reads it?

That's what H was saying. It's not like I have anything to hide! And the majority of my friends aren't into personal finance, frugal living or anything related.

Alternately, you could just say you have a blog (it's not like there aren't millions of others) and if someone's interested, you can tell them about it. If they're not, then no big deal (that is, don't make it a secret, but don't NOT make it a secret…does that make sense?). But it's up to you how personal you want to get. Taking photos of other people to put on your blog can get a little awkward what with all the privacy issues floating around these days, but Vancouver isn't a secret place (at least not anymore! Ha ha) and general pics of that won't cause you any grief.

I struggled with this recently. I didn't want my friends or family to find my blog not because I was ashamed of it, but because I thought they would think it was stupid. (I'm 20 and most of my friends/acquaintances are, to be blunt, kind of immature. I thought they'd find my frugal living tips dumb). I still haven't publicly "outed" myself on facebook or anything, but if people find my blog, oh well. I'm happy with our lifestyle and happy with my blog. I post personal pictures and talk about my personal life, because that's what I like in a blog. That said, I still haven't given the URL to my mom or anything. ;-)

Go with what feels right! (Sorry that's not any help).

Thanks Cate, it was help!

Maybe I should do something similar. Because I do like posting personal (well not as personal as you lol!) pictures.

I struggled with this at first too as I have a "crafting" blog that'll get up to 1200 hits on any given day, but sometimes as "low" as 600 hits. So.. to have another blog about the "real" me, finances, life, etc.. I was torn. I finally just decided to go for it, I have nothing to hide, people can read it, or not.

I feel you pain, lol! I agree with Laura tho! You dont need to let them know the website address, and you dont pot overly-personal stuff, its your personal experiences that make the blog good and ppl can relate to! Your real friends and family will think its great!I would! I say rock on!
