Grocery Shopping and Meal Plans!

It has been awhile, hasn’t it? I know. I haven’t really done a proper grocery shop in weeks. We have been doing small trips with no real plan. I promised myself I would get back into the swing of things this week.

Here’s what I bought for this week:

A lot of Superstore yellow, eh?

Total: $54.85

I have received a lot of questions about what we eat for breakfast and lunches, so I am going to start including those as well.

Breakfasts I always have yogurt, berries and granola. H always has something different. He will vary from toast with peanut butter, cereal or eggs.

Lunches for H this week include yogurt, fruit, multiple sandwiches or leftovers At Superstore I am able to buy 12 buns (H prefers buns) for $2.00 – which is an awesome deal! And we buy meat from the deli.

For myself, I love peanut butter and banana sandwiches; soup, yogurt or whatever else needs to be eaten.

Tuesday:

  • Lunch: H works a labour job, so his lunches are fairly large. But this is what he brought with him today. (Leftover tuna casserole, 2 sandwiches, 2 yogurts and an apple.)

I am going to have a sandwich, probably banana and peanut butter, because I LOVE them!

  • Dinner: Shepherds Pie

Wednesday:

  • Lunch: Leftovers, 1 sandwich
  • Dinner: Chicken, rice and veggies

Thursday:

  • Lunch: 3 sandwiches
  • Dinner: Spaghetti with veggies

Friday:

  • Lunch: Leftovers
  • Dinner: Nachos, cheese, tomatoes, onions and ground beef

Saturday:

  • Lunch: Sandwiches
  • Dinner: Date night! :D

Sunday:

  • Lunch: Whatever needs to be eaten
  • Dinner: BBQ!

When do you make your lunches? Jordan and I always plan to do this – but usually run out of time in the morning :(

I make his lunch in the morning. I never make it the night before because we both don't like the taste of sandwiches that have been sitting. It takes me at most 10 minutes to get his lunch together – not a lot of time is involved. :P

Sandwiches are for the weeks I'm feeling lazy.

I also make things like soup, chili or stuff that can last us throughout the week. (I will be posting a soup recipe next week.)

I've been meaning to ask you what is your job? Or job field? I've decided to quit job 2. It's just too much stress and besides I don't like it. It takes up my weekends completely and I can't spend anytime with family or friends. Which would suck. But never mind I posted that. :)

I was laid off last year from my job, when the recession hit. So for now, I do the paper route with H ($1200/month) and am a photographer on the side. :) It's working out quite nicely.

When you posted about your day, it sounded crazy busy! I got tired just reading it, hehe ;)

I found a job for a carrier here they asked me to come down and fill out an application so they can keep it on file. I'm just sick of working for the call center and making 0 money. I think it might be the program I'm on, but we'll see. :)

I hear yah. For sure. I used to work at a call center… it was horrible!!! I had to do technical support for computers. People used to call in and be SO angry and rude – definitely more stressful than people know!

It's tough when they work physical jobs and eat like a horse!

I find leftovers (when we have any) are usually a winner :)

It stinks in a call center. I work from home so that makes it slightly better. But I always feel like I have a Bachelors degree and shouldn't be doing this but no one hires with just a bachelors in English. I'm thinking of doing some paper-freelance work for local papers. We'll see how that works out.
