Honeymoon destination changes

Originally when H and I made our wedding budget we decided that we wanted to spend around $2,000 on our honeymoon.  Originally we decided to go to Vancouver Island for 2 or 3 nights, staying in a beautiful resort right on the ocean.

Well, as always, things are changing.

We have decided to go on an Alaskan cruise instead!

It’s cheaper.  It’s longer and hello? A CRUISE!!

We found a cruise that leaves Seattle on Friday, May 14th (we are getting married May 12th).  Which is perfect!

I am currently waiting to hear a couple different quotes on two different ships that leave the same weekend.  They are both around $600 – $650 per person.

Once I hear back from the travel agent, I will be putting down a deposit, which will probably be by the end of this week.  The deposit will be coming from our wedding fund!

We are both really excited! I took an Alaskan cruise about 7 years ago, and loved it! I have also been on a Hawaiian cruise.  This will be H’s first time cruising, he is going to be in food heaven! ;)

Fun! Just keep in mind that most Alaskan cruises are all old people.

Sounds like fun! I’ve never been on a cruise, but heard great things about how beautiful the scenery is on an Alaskan cruise. Over here on the East Coast, cruises go to Florida and the Caribbean — nice and warm, but most of the islands look the same to me.

So exciting! I have heard that Alaskan cruises are incredible, but I guess you already know that! Can’t wait to hear all about it!!

Great idea! I know a few couples who have taken Alaskan cruises and cannot *wait* to go again.

I’m sure you guys will have a wonderful time!

FUN!!! Of any cruise, that’s one I’d do. Remember to get an outside cabin, though, or otherwise it’s like living in a closet (from what I’ve heard).

Oh yeah! And give me a call when you hit Skagway or Juneau…I’ll buy you and H fancy coffees! Ha!

Congrats on your honeymoon plans-it sounds divine, and quite reasonably priced. :)

Annie: Don’t tease me, I just might take you up on your offer!! ;)

Annie  on November 25th, 2009

Hey – Skagway’s only a two-hour drive from here…and I’m always willing to take the time to do it!

gpeter  on November 30th, 2009

Of course you’ll love Alaska. How could you not? Where in Alaska are you visiting?

Frugal Dreamer  on December 1st, 2009

gpeter: I am going to be posting full details really soon!! :) I’m in BC, so the scenery is very similar to what I am used to!
